UQ Respect Student Training
Discover and participate in the training sessions designed specifically for UQ students.
Respect at UQ
We all have the right to be safe and respected at University and in all aspects of our lives.
It is important that we all understand how we can contribute to a culture of consent and respect, and how we can best support someone who has experienced sexual assault or harassment.
The content of the Respect at UQ module has been developed with input from subject matter specialists, along with staff and students, and is designed to give members of the UQ community safe, practical information about:
• understanding and navigating consent and respectful relationships;
• myths about sexual misconduct;
• how to be an ethical bystander and safely intervene if you witness harmful behaviour;
• how you can support someone who has experienced sexual misconduct;
• where to seek support and reporting options at UQ.
You can find a summary of the content included in the module here.

Ethical Bystander Training
Secondary prevention focuses on the immediate response to violence or harassment as it occurs, to stop it from escalating or getting worse. We want to promote an ethical bystander approach equipping students and staff with the knowledge, skills and confidence to intervene safely if they witness disrespectful behaviour.
This interactive workshop will guide participants through specific scenarios in which you will explore strategies that everyday people can use to speak up and take action to make a positive difference. Please allow one hour for this training.
