It is the survivor's right to choose whether to report rape, sexual assault or sexual harassment.

When deciding whether or not to report sexual assault or misconduct to the police, it is important to know what will be involved in the process.

3. How can I gather evidence?

When the police will conduct an investigation they will gather evidence relevant to the case. This can include bedding, sheets, pillows, clothing and more depending on the situation.

If the incident has occurred within 72 hours, police may arrange for you to have a forensic medical examination.

You can find information on how to preserve evidence the Queensland Police Service website
